32 años después, Paul McCartney reedita "Say, say, say" con Michael Jackson
Perteneciente a su quinto álbum como solista, "Pipes of peace", el Beatle presentó una nueva versión de la clásica colaboración que hizo con el 'Rey del pop'. Escuchen las dos y cuéntennos cuál le gusta más.
Escuchar clásicos de sus artistas favoritos siempre será un buen plan. En cualquier momento, en cualquier lugar. Y no es un plan que se hace para acompañar a otro, no. Es un plan para dejar lo que se esté haciendo y escuchar, sentir y ver cómo era la música con la cual crecimos o los artistas que marcaron nuestra vida, y más cuando se trata de colaboraciones.
Precisamente eso es lo que pasa cuando suena Paul McCartney o el mismo Michael Jackson, dos figuras relevantes del universo artístico. Ellos dos, a comienzos de la década de los 80, escribieron páginas importantes de la historia musical al juntarse y cantar, primero en The Girl Is Mine
(1982) de Michael Jackson y después en Say say say (1983) de Paul McCartney.

Esta última, perteneciente al quinto álbum como solista del eterno Beatle, y la cual fue el 'favor devuelto' por parte de Jackson, fue reeditada y publicada este mes en la remasterización 2015 de dos discos de McCartney: "Tug Of War" y "Pipes Of Peace", en donde apareció por primera vez Say say say.
La nueva edición lleva por título "Pipes of Peace 2015 Remaster" y contiene clásicos como versiones inéditas.
Les dejamos las dos versiones (con sus dos videos) para que escojan su favorita y para que dejen lo que estén haciendo y recuerden una de las colaboraciones más emblemáticas en la historia del pop.
Nota: Si se fijan bien y son buenos detallistas, la parte en la que cantaba Paul en la original es cantada por Michael y visceversa

El festival de Woodstock de 1969 fue seguramente uno de los eventos más representativos por el ingenio colectivo acarreado a la música de los años 1960 y al movimiento flower power. En éste contexto, la actuación de Jimi Hendrix se convirtió en un verdadero y propio símbolo del festival, además del pensamiento pacifista de aquellos años. La exhibición del guitarrista estaba programada para el cierre del evento, la noche del 18 de agosto de 1969, tercero y último de aquellos "tres días de paz, amor y música". A causa de problemas técnicos y logísticos que se verificaron, por no contar con la violenta lluvia que se abatió sobre la zona en mitad del segundo día (durante la actuación de los pioneros en improvisar en el rock, Grateful Dead), su presentación debió ser re-programada para la mañana siguiente. La inmensa cantidad de fans de los tres días anteriores (más de 500.000 espectadores) se había reducido considerablemente y Hendrix terminó cerrando el recital delante de una audiencia (respetable pero decididamente inferior a las expectativas) de aproximadamente 180.000 espectadores, exhaustos y en muchos casos incluso distraídos y desganados.
El guitarrista se presentó sobre el palco con una formación inédita, anunciada por el presentador como Jimi Hendrix Experience, pero rápidamente vuelta a presentar por el mismo Hendrix como Gipsy Sun and Rainbows: prosiguió una exhibición de dos horas (en absoluto entre las más largas de su carrera). El hecho que más sobresalió en aquella histórica exhibición, fue la celebérrima transfiguración guitarrística operada sobre el tema "The Star-Spangled Banner", himno de los Estados Unidos; Hendrix interpretó el tema en una manera salvaje mezclándolo con feroces simulaciones sonoras de bombardeos y ametrallamientos sobre los barrios de Vietnam, sirenas anti-aéreas y otros ruidos de batalla, todo únicamente usando su guitarra.43
La realidad de los hechos, queda aún en una extrema controversia sobre el significado que Hendrix quiso dar a aquel modo de proponer el himno nacional estadounidense. Si bien su razón sea más bien clara, hay que decir que desde hacía un año aquella versión de «The Star-Spangled Banner» era propuesta en vivo y el mismo Hendrix se mostró siempre misterioso sobre el tema: en una entrevista sobre el festival de Woodstock el guitarrista se declaró desinteresado a las cuestiones políticas, y a una pregunta más precisa —formulada durante el Dick Cavett's Show— sobre el porqué de su versión tan poco ortodoxa del himno norteamericano Jimi respondió muy tranquilamente "¿Poco ortodoxo? No lo sé, a mí me pareció hermoso".44
Algunas teorías de que Hendrix fuese de hecho favorable a la intervención bélica en Vietnam quedan totalmente de lado no solo al tomar en cuenta la transfiguración del himno efectuado en Woodstock, sino más bien al escuchar el tema "Machine Gun", contenido en su último LP Band of Gypsys, una explícita canción de protesta en contra de la guerra.38
Hendrix también actuaría, el 26 de agosto del año siguiente, en la edición de Woodstock celebrada en la Isla de Wight.
